Ramoreboli’s secret weapon for Jwaneng Galaxy’s domination

Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli has revealed the secret that has propelled his team to the top.

Ramoreboli joined the club ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, and he failed to defend the title as they finished third. In the 2022/23 season, the Free State-born mentor showed his class and clinched his first league title in Botswana.

In the current campaign, they got off to a good start. They are currently in third place with 19 points having played eight matches as compared to 12 like other teams. This is due to their participation in the CAF Champions League.

In the Champions League, they have done fairly well so far, reaching the group stages after missing out last season. They have a chance of qualifying for the knockouts as they are third in Group B with four points from four matches.

Along the way, the reigning Botswana champions eliminated PSL giants Orlando Pirates in the second preliminary round before defeating Moroccan powerhouse Wydad AC 1-0 in a group-stage match.

The real secret behind Jwaneng Galaxy’s Botswana Premier League dominance lies not on the field but in the mind of their coach, Ramoreboli.

Ramoreboli says his success at Jwaneng Galaxy comes from adapting to the environment and learning the culture in Botswana.

MORENA RAMOREBOLI’S SECRET AT JWANENG GALAXY WAS ADAPTING TO THE CULTURE AND ENVIRONMENT

“When you arrive at a new club or a new country, I think it’s important to learn the culture and language. You must know the surroundings of the people you will be dealing with,” Ramoreboli told FARPost.

“I did that when I arrived in Lesotho, and it worked for me. I did it again when I got here, and it worked again. But I must admit, it was a challenge in my first season here, trying to settle in, and we finished third. Last season, I had settled, and we won the title, which is something we are aiming to do this season and beyond.”

Ramoreboli further added that communication plays a huge role in his success in Botswana.

“Once you adapt and know the surroundings, communication becomes easy. You will be able to know the needs and wants of the team as a whole,” he added.
