Agent confirms contract talks for in-demand Royal AM star

Royal AM have moved swiftly to begin talks for a potential new contract with one of their star players following links with various clubs.

AM will be looking to pull out all the stops to retain their best players as the club is still not allowed to make new signings due to the FIFA transfer ban.

Thwihli Thwahla have yet to pay the money owed to their former striker Samir Nurkovic after they unlawfully terminated the forward’s contract last year.

Failing to make acquisitions ahead of the start of the season has seen the club make several promotions from their reserve side.

And many of the handful of trialists who were hoping to sign for the club have departed with the future seemingly uncertain.

The KZN outfit is third from the bottom having endured a tough start to the campaign, accumulating only 18 points from the possible 45.

With various clubs interested in Shaune Mogaila, Royal AM have opened talks for the contract extension with the player’s agent Gerald Baloyi who confirmed to FARPost.

AGENT SAYS ROYAL AM ARE KEEN TO KEEP MOGAILA

“We’re talking to Royal AM but we can’t stop other teams [who are interested],” he said.

“But the player is still on holiday. When he comes back, we’ll be able to negotiate properly.”

As previously reported, the 28-year-old is on the radars of Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United, AmaZulu, Pyramids and FC Nasaf from Uzbekistan.

The player is free to sign a pre-contract with any club as he’s now within the last six months of his contract.

Mogaila has been one of the key players that John Maduka has been relying on this season having featured in all matches across all competitions.

The Pietermaritzburg-based outfit is also expected to retain the services of the likes of the veteran defender Thabo Matlaba and Menzi Masuku who will see their contracts expire at the end of the season.
