Radiopane boost for struggling Cape Town Spurs
Cape Town Spurs have received a major Boitumelo Radiopane boost as they prepare for the second round of the season.
The Orlando Pirates starlet has returned from a long-term injury setback which saw him on the sidelines since May 2023.
The Pirates academy graduate is on loan at DStv Premiership strugglers Spurs. He joined the club at the beginning of 2022/23 PSL season.
The 21-year-old played a role in the team’s promotion last season. He helped the team in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, scoring six goals in 22 matches.
The talented striker was injured in their first PSL Promotional/Relegation playoffs match after suffering a bone fracture against Casric Stars.
On Monday, Radiopane took part in the team’s first training session of the new year with the rest of the squad.

“New year, new leaf. First training session of 2024 with some new faces,” Spurs posted on their social media accounts.
A lot happened since Radiopane’s injury, the main thing being the coaching changes which saw Shaun Bartlett being replaced by Ernst Middendorp. This was due to a poor start to the season, failing to register a single point in seven matches, following defeats.
The SA Under 23 striker is in line and likely to feature when the league resumes in February after the conclusion of the 2023 AFCON. The Capetonians will be on the road to face another struggling side Royal AM on Wednesday, 14 February. The match will take place at Harry Gwala Stadium at 7:30 pm.
Radiopane will face competition for a place in the starting line-up. Spurs have been relying on Riyaaz Nell, Therlo Moosa, Luke Baartman and Ashley Cupido. However, goals have been a problem.
The four players have only scored seven goals combined in the league. Nell is yet to score, Moosa and Baartman have two goals respectively and Cupico has found the back of the net three times.
