DStv Premiership side joins Sekhukhune in Makgalwa chase

A DStv Premiership side has joined Sekhukhune United in the race for the signature of Upington City FC attacker Keletso Makgalwa.

Babina Noko has shown interest in Makgalwa after his impressive form in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Makgalwa caught the eye of Sekhukhune United after making 10 appearances for City, scoring five goals while contributing three assists.

The 26-year-old utility player hit the ground running at City after signing on a free transfer in October 2023. He parted company with Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the 2023/24 PSL season.

Having signed a short-term deal at Upington, Makgalwa has entered the last six months of his contract, and he’s legible to sign a pre-contract with any interested club during the current January transfer window.

Keletso Makgalwa is on the wishlist of Richards Bay FC

Richards Bay has had a dismal start to the 2023/24 campaign after winning three games, drawing four, and losing nine times. They are sitting 15th on the league table with 13 points in 16 matches played.

As a result, the Natal Rich Boys sacked head coach Kaitano Tembo, and he was replaced by Vusimuzi Vilakazi, who took over on an interim basis.

While Bay will be looking to turn the corner in the second round of the season, they added Makgalwa to their wishlist.

“Keletso Makgalwa has attracted yet another interest in the DStv Premiership, and this time, it’s Richards Bay,” said the source.

“They enquired about Makgalwa with the aim of signing him in the January transfer window, but it looks like Upington City wants to hold on to him. Upington City is very confident of gaining promotion to the top flight, and they don’t want to lose any of their key players.”
