Eswatini star on brink of signing for Black Leopards
Black Leopards are on the brink of sealing the signing of the highly-rated midfielder from Eswatini.
South African clubs are hoping to utilise the January transfer window to bolster some areas before they return for the second round of the 2023/24 season.
The hope to get back to the DStv Premiership is still alive for Lidoda Duvha who are just seven points behind the log leaders Orbit College who have been almost untouchable in the first round of their maiden season in the second-tier.
Leopards occupy the ninth spot on the table with 23 points after 17 matches having won seven games, drawn two and lost eight.
Under the tutelage of Solly Luvhengo, the Limpopo outfit has 13 matches to turn things around and realise their objective of ascending into the top-flight.
BLACK LEOPARDS CLOSE TO SIGNING PHILANI MKHONTFO
According to FARPost sources, Leopards are close to signing one of the most praised midfielders in Eswatini, Philani Mkhontfo. The Eswatini international is said to have touched down in South Africa to finalise things with the David Thidiela-owned side.
Mkhonto was reportedly recommended by the club’s coach Luvhengo who worked with him at the Eswatini giants Mbabane Highlanders.
“He is coming with the recommendation of the coach Solly Luvhengo,” said the source.
“They worked together at Mbabane and the coach was given the go-ahead to bring him on board. The club has one space for a foreigner.”
Mkhontfo is currently in the books of Mbabane Highlanders. The 28-year-old has been a mainstay for the Eswatini giants and will leave an immense hole in the midfield.
Mbabane are sixth on the log standings with 19 points after 13 matches.
