Big update on Mfundo Vilakazi’s futute at Kaizer Chiefs

Mfundo Vilakazi, a highly-rated prospect at Kaizer Chiefs, has become a prominent topic of discussion among fans and media. There is now a significant development regarding his future with the club.

Vilakazi produced an eye-catching performance for the Carling All-Stars team that beat Carling Knockout champions Stellenbosch FC 2-1 at Peter Mokaba Stadium last week.

The 18-year-old fan-favourite scored a free-kick for the All-Stars team and produced dribbling skills in front of a packed Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Vilakazi has been with Amakhosi’s DStv Diski Challenge side, and he was invited by Cavin Johnson to train with the senior team in December 2023.

And with Vilakazi seemingly ready to take up a bigger stage, there is a new development with his future at Chiefs.

‘Obrigado’, as he’s affectionately known, has reportedly been promoted to the Chiefs first team. The Soweto-born star will join the club for the second half of the DStv Premiership season.

Meanwhile, Donay Jansen is another highly-rated youngster who has been invited to train with Chiefs’ senior team. He will be under the watchful eye of Cavin Johnson.

Jansen, who is the cousin of the former Chiefs attacker Benard Parker, will be hoping to get a DStv Premiership contract. He has been performing well in the DDC. The young attacker has netted five goals so far in the DDC.

Last season, the starlet netted 12 goals for the Soweto giants’ reserve team. And the youngster has been tipped as the next big thing in SA football.

It remains to be seen whether Jansen will be afforded a chance to turn out for Chiefs anytime soon.
