AmaZulu FC confirm arrival of a Sundowns defender
DStv Premiership side AmaZulu have confirmed the signing of a Mamelodi Sundowns defender on a six-month loan deal.
Usuthu on Monday announced that left-back Sifiso Ngobeni has joined the club until the end of the current season.
The club recently suspended one of their left-backs, Sibusiso Mabiliso, for off-field misconduct. AmaZulu also recently parted ways with former SA junior international Tercious Malepe.
The arrival of the 26-year-old Ngobeni marks Usuthu’s first activity in the January transfer window period.

“The club proudly announces the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns defender Sifiso Ngobeni on
a six-month loan deal,” Usuthu announced.
“The 26-year-old, hailing from Mamelodi, is set to enhance a competitive set-up at left back position with his exciting energy and dedication to the KZN-based club alongside AFCON-bound Riaan Hanamub in Coach Pablo Franco’s team.

Meanwhile, Ngobeni also expressed his enthusiasm about the temporary move to the KZN giants, AmaZulu.
“I am very happy to join AmaZulu, and I am looking forward to working hard to please the fans and the president of the club. I am happy that I’ll be meeting up with the right people so that we can help the team to rise,” he said.
“The team has a lot of history, and we need to bring joy to the fans so that they can be happy about the club this season by finishing up in the top four.”
Ngobeni has played for clubs such as the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic and SuperSport United since making his professional debut in 2019. He was signed by the reigning Champions in 2021 after some impressive displays. Ngobeni spent part of the 2021/22 season on loan at SuperSport United.
“As AmaZulu FC aims to strengthen its squad for the unpredictable upcoming DSTV Premiership second round, Ngobeni’s addition is a strategic move. His experience and determination are expected to complement the team’s objectives for the season,” the club said.
