‘Maybe I shouldn’t have gone there’: Xola Mlambo on TS Galaxy stint

Former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu FC midfielder Xola Mlambo has opened up on his distasteful stint at TS Galaxy, stating that “maybe I shouldn’t have gone there”.

Mlambo is currently a free agent after parting ways with TS Galaxy at the start of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

The skilful midfielder joined Galaxy during the 2022/23 campaign. He made 25 appearances in all competitions and scored one goal for the club.

Mlambo is a well-traveled player as he has turned out for clubs like Chippa United, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, AmaZulu FC, and Galaxy.

The 32-year-old star endured a frustrating legal battle with the Tim Sukazi-owned team after he was not handed his transfer clearance despite the contract being terminated.

With Mlambo itching for his return to professional football, he has admitted that joining the Rockets was a mistake.

XOLA MLAMBO SPILL BEANS ON TS GALAXY EXIT

“I can’t lie and say I enjoyed myself at TS Galaxy; I mean, even if you can look at the pictures of when I signed a contract [at Galaxy], they say a lot,” Mlambo told FARPost.

“Sometimes the decisions that we take, we have to listen to our instinct, look at the pictures when I was moving from Chippa to Wits. There’s excitement and there’s positive energy, moving from Wits to Pirates, there’s a bit of fear but there is that enthusiasm. Also moving from Pirates to AmaZulu, there, was that excitement of starting a new chapter.

“If you look at the contract signing with TS Galaxy, the facial expression says a lot. Sometimes, I even wonder why I made the decision, so it taught me that wherever I go, I just go with a clear heart.

“And if I feel that it’s not a move for me to make, It shouldn’t even be a matter of I’m desperate that I want employment or I want to play. We are often told by our parents that if your mind says don’t do something, don’t do it because you find yourself in an uncontrollable situation.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have gone there [TS Galaxy]. but it’s lessons; certain things have to happen to teach you things about yourself.

“Even before going to AmaZulu, there was a link to join coach Dan [Malesela] at TS Galaxy, but at that time, my instinct said no, don’t do it. The second time, my instinct said no, but I joined anyway, so we learn the hard way.”
