Serbian adventure beckons for Kaka Sifumba

Promising Luphumlo Kaka Sifumba has reportedly caught the eye of a Serbian club who are keen to have his services this January.

18-year-old Sifumba made his debut in the 2022/23 season against Orlando Pirates. This came after good performances in their DStv Diski Challenge side as he helped them to finish second that season.

CT City coach Eric Tinkler has handed him five appearances this season, and the youngster has set his sights on a loan switch overseas.

The club eyeing him is known for its focus on developing young talent, and a loan move to Serbia could prove a valuable opportunity for Sifumba to gain experience and exposure in a competitive European league.

Cape Town City, however, are likely to be reluctant to let go of one of their most promising talents. Sifumba is under contract with the club until 2025. City will no doubt want to maximise his transfer value before considering any loan or permanent offers.

Serbian topflight outfit FK TSC Backa Topola have reportedly been tracking the talented youngster and want to have him on loan.

According to reliable sources, the Serbian club has made an official loan offer to CT City.

FK TSC Backa Topola is currently sitting in third place in the Serbian SuperLiga. They’re looking to bolster their attack in the second half of the season and see Sifumba as the perfect fit.

They are 10 points behind log leaders Partizan with 11 games to go before the end of the season.

Talks between the two clubs are reportedly ongoing, and it remains to be seen if a deal can be reached.

CT City value Kaka – a technically gifted attacking midfielder – whose strengths are passing, assisting and creating spaces for others. In City’s development side, Kaka was hailed as a ‘coach’ and leader on the field, with a knack for scoring goals.

The Cape Town side handed him Jersey No. 8. It was previously worn by the club’s top players Teko Modise and Lebo Manyama. The confidence they have in his potential shines through in their decisions.
