How transfer links with the big three affected Thabo Nodada
Cape Town City FC midfielder Thabo Nodada has opened up on how the transfer links with the big three clubs in the PSL affected him.
Nodada has been a subject of speculation for the past few years, with reports linking him with a big move to Gauteng.
The highly-rated midfielder was reportedly on the wishlist of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 28-year-old star is one of the longest-serving players at CT City, and he has over 200 appearances for the club. In his nine seasons at the club, he scored 18 goals in all competitions and contributed with 15 assists.
Nodada has lifted the MTN8 trophy and the Telkom Knockout Cup while he has two Bafana Bafana caps to his name. In the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign, Nodada has turned out in 14 matches in the league for CT City and scored one goal.
The former Mpumalanga Black Aces star experienced a dip in form in the past two seasons and also struggled with injuries. In the past two seasons, Nodada scored only two goals and made four assists.
Meanwhile, in March 2023, CT City’s chairman, John Comitis, told FARPost that he was open to selling Nodada for the right offer.
NODADA TELLS POTENTIAL SUITORS TO DO THE RIGHT THING
Asked how the links to the PSL’s big three have affected him, Nodada said, “When I was young, I think when I was 23 [years of age], it affected me,”
“I think I paid a lot of attention to it [interest from big clubs]. I was new to it, which is normal, but as I grew older, I was just like, if it’s gonna happen, it will happen.
“If it’s not gonna happen, it won’t happen. Killing myself over it and stressing over a suitor who needs to pay for my services, I’ve got no control over that.
“The only control I’ve got is to go on the field and play; if people are interested, they’ll do the right thing. So far, the only people who put the money where their mouth is are my club chairman, and that’s why I’m at City.
