AmaZulu FC stop assessing striker after Mulenga’s arrival
AmaZulu FC have stopped assessing a striker following the arrival of the Zambian forward Augustine Mulenga.
The 34-year-old recently reunited with Usuthu a day after parting ways with Chippa United following a brief spell with the Eastern Cape side.
He penned a six-month deal with an option to renew further with Usuthu becoming the second signing for the Durban-based side in the January PSL transfer window.
Mulenga had his first stint with AmaZulu between 2020 and 2022 before he went back to Zambia.
NIKITARIDIS STOP TRAINING WITH AMAZULU
One week ago, AmaZulu welcomed Tristan Nikitaridis for an assessment, however, he has been let go following the arrival of Mulenga. Nikitaridis has played for University of Johannesburg, Baroka and AmaTuks.
AmaZulu were said to be looking for a striker, it is uncertain whether they’re still searching as they have signed the forward Mulenga.
The striking department was hit hard by the shock passing of Bonginkosi Ntuli towards the end of the year. And at times, AmaZulu have had struggles in front of goal, scoring 14 goals out of 16 league matches.
Usuthu have also signed Sfiso Ngobeni on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns for the remainder of the season. He was brought in after the departure of Sibusiso Mabiliso who recently ended his second spell with with the club.
AMAZULU FC EXITS SO FAR
Apart from Mabiliso, the Sandile Zungu-owned side parted ways with Tercious Malepe and Siphesihle Maduna. All three above-mentioned players are currently free agents and have yet to sign for any clubs.Â
AmaZulu will be looking to come back stronger in the second round having finished the first round in eighth position.
They have accumulated 22 points from 16 games and are already one game ahead of many teams.
They will return to action with a league trip to Stellenbosch FC on 13 February. The match will take place at 7:30 pm at Danie Craven Stadium.
