Pitso Mosimane takes on new challenge in Saudi Arabia
Highly decorated coach Pitso Mosimane is set to resume his managerial career after landing a new position in Saudi Arabia.
With his appointment and return to the Saudi Pro League, Mosimane’s focus shifts to the Middle East, quelling rumours of a return to the DStv Premiership.
Prior to accepting the new job in Saudi Arabia, 59-year-old coach Mosimane had been mentioned as a possible candidate for coaching roles at Kaizer Chiefs, Zamalek and the Nigerian National Team.
The former Al-Wahda FC, Al Ahly, and Mamelodi Sundowns will be returning to the dugout as he has penned a short-term deal with Saudi Pro League side Abha Football Club.
According to a report by Sunday World, Mosimane signed a four-month contract on Thursday afternoon. “I can confirm to you that coach Pitso [Mosimane] has officially signed with Saudi Arabia club Abha FC on Thursday,” Mosimane’s agent Moira Tlhagale confirmed to the publication.

“Coach Pitso will be returning to the Gulf and has signed a four-month contract with the team until the end of the season.
“His mandate is clear, and that is to ensure that Abha survives relegation and plays in the Pro League again next season,” added Tlhagale.
The report also stated that the club had initially offered Mosimane an 18-month deal. But he opted for a short-term deal.
The coach reportedly left the country with his technical team, which comprises Maahier Davids, Kabelo Rangoaga, Musi Matlaba, Kyle Solomon, and Hamad Alyami.
Mosimane faces a steep uphill battle at Abha SC, who find themselves precariously close to relegation in the Saudi Pro League. They currently occupy 17th place with 14 points from 19 games, just three points above the drop zone.
It is a second stint for Mosimane in Saudi Arabia. He guided Al Ahli Jeddah to promotion after just one season at the club. But the coach terminated his contract at the club after reports of unpaid salaries for several months.
Mosimane recently parted ways with UAE Pro League side Al Wahda. He left the club after being in charge of 10 matches, winning six and losing four.
