Pitso Mosimane’s first words as Abha Club coach
SA coach Pitso Mosimane has spoken for the first time after being unveiled as head coach of Abha Club in Abha, Saudi Arabia.
Abha Club have officially confirmed the appointment of the three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach on Friday.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly mentor will be assisted by his usual technical team consisting of Maahier Davids, Kabelo Rangoaga, Musi Matlaba, Kyle Solomon, and Hamad Alyami for the remainder of the 2023/2024 season.
The side is currently fighting to avoid relegation as they are placed 17th in the Roshn League.
With 15 games left of the season, coach Mosimane and his experienced technical team will be expected to do the unthinkable with the Saudi Arabian side.
Mosimane’s first league fixture in Abha will be on the 15th of February, 2024. The players will be returning from the Asian Cup and AFCON tournaments.

“I am happy to be returning to Saudi Arabia with an exciting challenge awaiting. Abha Club has had a quick rise to the Saudi Pro League. Considering they were playing in the 3rd Division just four seasons ago,” said Mosimane.
“Now, as the club faces its toughest challenge yet. I am honoured that the Board has entrusted me with the task of keeping the team in the Pro League.”
Meanwhile, MT Sports Managing Director Moira Tihagale is delighted that Abha Club has identified the value in coach Mosimane.
“We are confident that our coaches will work hard to ensure that the “Leaders of the South” defend their place in the Pro League. Coach Pitso Mosimane and his team’s brand of excellence and deliverance of results will shine through,” added Tihagale.

“The Saudi Pro League club will be led by Coach Pitso and his Technical Team. Consisting of Maahier Davids, Kabelo Rangoaga, Musi Matlaba, Kyle Solomon, and Goal Keeper Coach, Hamad Alyami.”
