Former Pirates, SuperSport winger leaves Ghanaian club
Ghanaian club Medeama SC have confirmed the departure of a former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United winger after a brief stint.
The club, Medeama SC, released a statement on Saturday, confirming the exit of Zimbabwe attacker Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Mahachi joined the club in August 2023, marking his return to action after over a year on the sidelines. That was after he was released by SuperSport United, then as he was facing criminal charges in Zimbabwe.
During his stay in Ghana, the former Orlando Pirates winger was restricted to cameo appearances, where he managed one goal.
In total, he made one CAF Champions League appearance for the Ghanaian Champions. In truth, the 30-year-old battled match fitness, having spent a lot of time without playing.

The Ghanaian club, Medeama SC, confirmed Kudakwashe Mahachi’s exit, stating that the decision was mutually reached.
“Medeama and Kudakwashe Mahachi have parted ways on mutual ground after five months at the club,” said the club. “The Zimbabwean joined the Mauve and Yellows in August 2023 but struggled to cement his role due to lack of fitness.
“The two parties have agreed to go separate ways in the best interest of both the club and the player.
“Mahachi joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2014 after a breakthrough campaign at Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League side Highlanders.
“He spent a season on loan at Golden Arrows before being made permanent between 2016-2018. Kudakwashe Mahachi capped 44 times and scored 5 goals for Zimbabwe so far, also featured for South African side Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.
“He made the switch to Ghana after a year’s absence, but things did not go according to plan. The club wishes Kudakwashe Mahachi the best in his future endeavours,” the club said.
It remains to be seen where he will emerge after the divorce.
