Agent reveals when Zim’s number one will join SuperSport United
With the transfer window closed, agent Gibson Mahachi has revealed when top Zimbabwean goalie Donovan Bernard will join SuperSport United.
The Zimbabwean goalie Donovan Bernard was tipped to switch to the DStv Premiership this January, but his move was delayed.
According to a source at Chicken Inn, the PSL giants are likely to part ways with a figure close to R2 million in order to sign the goalie.
His agent, Gibson Mahachi, is sure the Gavin Hunt-coached side intends to make Bernard their long-term goalie. Mahachi revealed that the Pretoria-based side wants to replace on-loan Ricardo Goss with Bernard.

Goss is expected to return to his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns, at the end of the current season.
“Yes, the January transfer window was closed last Friday, but it will not affect Bernard’s move to SuperSport United,” Mahachi told the Herald. “SuperSport United have identified Bernard as one of their preferences to replace Goss, who is expected to return to Sundowns.
“If nothing changes, Bernard is joining SuperSport United this June, and that’s our position with the club at the moment.”
At this point, Mahachi is imploring his client to remain at the top of his game as Matsatsantsa continues their assessment.
“They [SuperSport United] said they are going to be monitoring Bernard’s progress. It’s now up to him to remain focused while waiting for their call. It will be in his best interest as it will also boost his profile, and he can even attract more clubs,” Mahachi added.
Bernard is currently the first-choice goalie at Chicken Inn FC, who are led by former AmaZulu FC coach Joey Antipas.
The 28-year-old will hope to impress when Zimbabwe’s 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League starts on 24 February.
Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa have also relied on another Zimbabwean goalkeeper, Washington Arubi, as cover for Goss. In the past, they had the late Zimbabwean George Chigova as one of their goalkeepers.
