Veteran goalie Tapuwa Kapini explains his role at Highlands Park FC

Veteran goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini has explained the main role he’s playing at ABC Motsepe League side Highlands Park FC.

Kapini made his return to Highlands Park in October 2023 after he was without a club for some time. His first stint with the former DStv Premiership outfit was from 2015 to 2020 before he joined Sekhukhune United.

The experienced former Zimbabwean international is a known figure in the DStv Premiership. He previously played for other clubs like now-defunct Platinum Stars and AmaZulu FC.

Besides playing football with the Lions of the North, Kapini was handed a role of a goalkeeper coach. He’s helping the club by identifying and grooming future Highlands Park goalkeepers.

“I’m trying by all means to put my experience with those young boys who are talented and hungry to establish successful careers in playing football.”

Kapini further revealed that it’s very difficult to play in the South African third tier league as he once played in SA’s topflight during his peak.

“It’s not easy to play down there when you have been in the PSL, going under and playing in ABC Motsepe League is not an easy one. I just want thank the directors that are looking after me to look after my family,” he added.
