Cavin Johnson in buoyant mood ahead of DStv Prem resumption
Kaizer Chiefs mentor Cavin Johnson is in a buoyant mood ahead of the DStv Premiership second round of the season, as they welcome TS Galaxy at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, in Polokwane.
Amakhosi will return to action on Tuesday, 13 February 2024 against TS Galaxy in a league clash, with the kick-off set for 19:30.
Coach Johnson says the Soweto giants are ready to compete and confident that the Glamour Boys will resume the league on a high note, as they used the AFCON break to work on their skills and techniques.
This month, Chiefs will play three games against The Rockets[13 February], Royal AM [18 February], and Milford FC in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 [25 February].
CAVIN JOHNSON READY FOR DSTV PREMIERSHIP SECOND ROUND
Johnson, who went four games unbeaten before the AFCON break, has revealed how the side has been doing ahead of the TS Galaxy tie.
“We have our full compliment of players, with Edmilson Dove having started training on Monday after his return from Ivory Coast,” said Johnson.
“We have also had a few guys from our development structures so we could have a good look at them and help them improve. So, we believe we are ready for the remaining 14 league games and Nedbank Cup matches.
“We will take each match as it comes, so our preparation and focus at this point are on Tuesday’s match against TS Galaxy.”
Johnson continued: “We know they went overseas, where they played friendlies and have been working hard. They are not easy customers and we have to make sure we do well in the match.”
The coach is well aware that it’s not going to be a walk in the park when they take on the Mpumalanga-based outfit in Polokwane but anticipates a good game from both sides.
GEORGE MATLOU AND THATAYAONE DITLHOKWE NURSING INJURIES
Meanwhile, George Matlou recently underwent a surgery and is expected to be on the sidelines for quite some time, whereas it is unclear when Thatayaone Ditlhokwe will return to action.
“We look forward to a good match and have to see how the guys who were out before the break are doing; that is Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and George Matlou,” he added.
“However, our motto is that whoever is selected must give it their all and ensure we secure the much-needed three points in our league matches,” the coach states.”
