Cape Town City FC have tied down midfielder Taahir Goedeman by rewarding him with a lengthy contract extension.
Goedeman becomes the club’s second player to get a contract extension. This comes after goalkeeper Darren Keet was offered a two-year contract extension last week.
The 24-year-old, Goedeman, has been a key player for the Citizens after he made his breakthrough ahead of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season.
Goedeman had a great tenure and impressed a lot in the colours of CT City’s DStv Diski Challenge team. His consistent performances proved that he’s ready for first team football.
Ever since his debut, the academy graduate is one of the trusted players in coach Eric Tinkler’s team by becoming a regular starter in the team. For the first team, the midfield engine has made 58 appearances in all competitions. He netted five goals and provided two assists.
So far this season, the talented central-midfielder has featured in 18 matches in all competitions. He has contributed towards three goals after scoring two and provided an assist.
TAATHIR GOEDEMAN SIGNS A NEW FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT WITH CT CITY FC
CT City made the announcement on Tuesday morning on their social media accounts that they’ve taken a decision to extend Goedeman’s contract.
“We are delighted to announce that Taahir Goedeman has signed a new four-year contract extension with the Citizens,” CT City posted.
“Very pleased that Balla [Taahir Goedeman] signed a new contract. He’s developed significantly in the past few seasons since I joined, and we’re optimistic he’ll continue to do so,” said Eric Tinkler
At the start of the 2023/24 campaign, Tinkler revealed that Goedeman is a player for the future. He further added that the midfielder impressed him a lot during the pre-season camp. At that time, the Captonians were getting ready for the new campaign.
An advantage of having a player like Goedeman in the team is that he’s versatile. He can play as an attacking midfielder and on the wing depending with the team’s formation.
