Khama Billiat eyes career revival in Zimbabwe
After struggling to find a club in the DStv Premiership, attacker Khama Billiat is likely to restart his career in Zimbabwe, it has emerged.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star, Khama Billiat, is being linked with Harare giants Dynamos FC.
Another club, Manica Diamonds, has also expressed interest in signing the former Glamour Boys star player. Kudakwashe Mahachi is also said to be on his way to Dynamos after being released by Medeama SC of Ghana last month.
More so, Billiat has been clubless since leaving Kaizer Chiefs during the 2023/24 pre-season after ignoring a contract renewal opportunity.
The 32-year-old has made several attempts to bounce back into the DStv Premiership, including training with SuperSport United.
Cape Town City FC were also reported to be angling for his services, but nothing materialized.
ZIM GIANTS DYNAMOS’ POSITION ON KHAMA BILLIAT
A source in the Dynamos FC executive told FARPost that they want Billiat because of his vast experience.
“Khama Billiat remains a good player, and he would be a great addition to our team. We will definitely need the experience when we play in the CAF Confederations Cup,” said the source. “So, we would be happy to have one of the two, Billiat or Kuda Mahachi. But for now, nothing has been finalised yet. We are still talking.
“He [Billiat] will obviously come at a higher price because of his profile. This also comes at a time when we have concluded our budgets. However, we will see how best to deal with the situation,” the source said.
Reports in Zimbabwe reveal that the ex-Zimbabwe international is expected in the country on Thursday to complete his move to Dynamos.
Although he has failed to get an SA local club, Billiat left an indelible mark since he arrived in the DStv Premiership in 2010. That time, he joined Ajax Cape Town.
