Maritzburg United drop points in six-goal thriller as Orbit College maintain winning run
Maritzburg United dropped points in the first match of the second round in the Motsepe Foundation Championship against Casric Stars at Giyani Stadium.
The Team of Choice played to a thrilling 3-3 draw against Casric to take their winless run to seven games. Maritzburg United last tasted a victory on the 4th of November 2023 when they beat Orbit College 3-1.
United, who were relegated from the DStv Premiership at the end of last season, are sitting in the 11th place on the NFD log with 21 points.
The KZN-based side won five, drawn six and lost seven of18 league games they have played so far.
Elsewhere, Orbit College maintained their winning form in the Motsepe Foundation after beating Milford FC 1-0 at Olympia Park Stadium.
The Mswenko boys as they are affectionately known, occupy the top spot on the log with 33 points after 18 games.
Orbit College have claimed 10 victories in the league and drawn three while suffering five defeats. The North West-based side is pushing to gain promotion to the Premiership.
MAGESI FC COLLECT MAXIMUM POINTS AGAINST JDR STARS
Meanwhile, Magesi FC collected maximum points after beating JDR Stars 2-0 at Soshanguve Giant Stadium on Tuesday.
Magesi is amongst the title-chasing teams in the second tier and they sit third on the log with 30 points accumulated.
The Limpopo-based outfit is behind AmaTuks and Orbit College who are on 31 points and 33 points respectively.
