How much Khama Billiat will earn at Yadah FC
Having been one of the top earners in the DStv Premiership, forward Khama Billiat is set to be the highest earner in Zimbabwe’s PSL.
The veteran forward Khama Billiat was among the highest-paid players in the PSL before he left Kaizer Chiefs.
According to reports, the 33-year-old was earning over R850,000 per month at Amakhosi since he joined them in 2018. The former Zimbabwe international joined Chiefs on a free transfer in 2018 after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns.
Even after struggling to replicate the form he displayed at Masandawana, Billiat remained highly ranked in terms of salary.
HOW MUCH YADAH OFFERED BILLIAT
And as he returns to Zimbabwe, Billiat is set to become the highest earner in the league, pocketing about R95,500 [US$5 000] per month.
In securing Billiat’s signature, Yadah FC splashed R378,000 [US$20 000] in signing-on fees for Billiat, who was a free agent.
Although, there is a massive difference between what he earned at Chiefs, Billiat set a record in Zimbabwe. The majority of football players in the country earn less than R20,000.
But it remains to be seen how he will perform at the club, which is owned by prominent Prophet Walter Magaya.
Last season, Yadah FC survived relegation on the last day of the season. In fact, they have been one of the underperforming teams in Zimbabwe’s PSL since their promotion in 2016.
It remains a curious case how a player of Billiat’s calibre ended at a team that has all but been relegation material. Crucially, Billiat will have a lot to prove that he is not yet a spentforce, having been inactive for eight months.
He arrives backed by a wealth of experience, having also played for Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns. Most of his achievements came during his stay at Sundowns between 2013 and 2016.
