Two former DStv Premiership stars set to follow Billiat’s footsteps

Two former DStv Premiership stars are set to follow in the footsteps of Khama Billiat by joining Zimbabwe’s Yadah FC, it has emerged.

Billiat made a sensational return to Zimbabwe after struggling to find a new club since divorcing with Kaizer Chiefs eight months ago.

The attacker joined Yadah FC, one of the small teams competing in Zimbabwe’s PSL, in a move that has left tongues wagging in the country.

Billiat instantly became the highest-paid football player in Zimbabwe’s elite league. So much is expected from Billiat, considering how he carved a niche at both club and national team level.

Former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United winger Kudakwashe Mahachi is being linked with Dynamos FC and Yadah FC. Another former Matsatsantsa forward, Evans Rusike, unattached, is also said to be keen on joining Billiat’s new club.

Dynamos have been front-runners to acquire Mahachi’s services, but Billiat’s move appears to have swayed the winger. While negotiations with him are at an advanced stage, Mahachi recently told the Zimbabwean media that he is yet to decide which club to join.

Mahachi has been clubless after parting ways with Ghana Premier League outfit Medeama SC last month. The 30-year-old attacker had joined the club in August 2023, returning to action after over a year on the sidelines.

In Ghana, the former Pirates star was restricted to cameo appearances, where he only scored one goal. He battled match fitness while struggling to acclimatize to Medeama SC’s style of play.

On the other hand, Evans Rusike has been in the shadows since parting ways with Moroka Swallows in July 2023.

It remains to be seen, where the duo will end up. But it is without a doubt that Billiat’s move back to Zimbabwe has had an impact on them.
