Arrows were recently eliminated from the Nedbank Cup after losing 2-1 at the hands of the high-flying TS Galaxy. It was a third consecutive loss for Arrows against the Rockets after two defeats in the DStv Premiership.

Mabhuti Khenyeza’s side sits in ninth place on the league standings with 23 points accumulated from 17 games they have played so far.

The KZN outfit started the campaign on form but have found it difficult to dust themselves off since they lost 3-0 to AmaZulu FC in the Carling Knockout Cup in November which was the beginning of their lengthy losing run.

During this rough patch, the Durban-based side has conceded 19 goals in their last nine matches. This may serve as the evidence of woes in the defence and goalkeeping departments.

They have submitted a formal bid to Mamelodi Sundowns for goalie Ismail Watenga who’s currently with them on loan. Watenga, who hasn’t been playing due to injury, joined Arrows at the start of this season and they want him permanently.

Lately, Khenyeza has been relying on Sifiso Mlungwana and the Nigerian shot-stopper Olufemi Kayode as a back-up.

Kayode signed for Arrows at the start of the season from Sunshine Stars but has been struggling for game time, playing only one match for the side in the Carling Knockout Cup.

Meanwhile, the Arrows’ fourth shot-stopper Nkosingiphile Gumede has also played one match when they knocked out Cape Town City in the Knockout with 3-1 scoreline.
