‘It will not damage my reputation’: Cavin Johnson
Kaizer Chiefs tactician Cavin Johnson is not reading much into their defeat to Milford FC, saying ‘it will not damage my reputation.’
The Glamour Boys were bundled out of the Nedbank Cup following a 5-4 penalty shootout defeat to Milford FC.
Unlike Orlando Pirates, Chiefs wasted another chance to win some silverware this season. And the defeat was painfully delivered in their own backyard – FNB Stadium.
Ranga Chivaviro turned out to be the fall guy after missing a penalty Amakhosi had earned 12 minutes into the first half of extra-time. At that moment, Milford’s Unathi Somabhele handled the ball in the box. But Chivaviro’s effort from the spot-kick was saved by goalie Siphamandla Hleza.
Amakhosi failed to crack the Xanti Pupuma-coached side, even after they were reduced to 10 men. Defender Vusumuzi Mthabela had been sent off after receiving a second yellow after a foul on Pule Mmodi.
WHY CAVIN JOHNSON IS NOT WORRIED ABOUT HIS REPUTATION AFTER DEFEAT TO MILFORD FC
While losing on penalties was a bitter pill to swallow, the Chiefs tactician Cavin Johnson is not a worried man.
When asked if the loss to a little-known team would damage his reputation, Johnson was quick to assert that his men gave a decent account of themselves.
“I’ve lost other games like this. And yes, I don’t think it will damage my reputation when you see the way the team played.
“I think it will be the way the team played, that I will say maybe will damage my reputation. If we did not attack and attempt to score goals and the ball didn’t go into the net. If we made tactical blunders, then I would say my reputation is at stake because I made completely wrong mistakes.
“And maybe if I played someone like Gonzalez [ Efmamjjasond] as a defender. I thought we did well, and I think my reputation is still intact even though we lost.
