SUNDOWNS’ RUN IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SINCE 2016

Bafana Ba Style have struggled to get their second star for years after they won their first Champions League in 2016 under the guidance of Pitso Mosimane.

In 2017, they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Wydad Casablanca who went on to lift the title while in 2018, they couldn’t come out of the group, finishing third below Horoya SC and Wydad Casablanca.

In 2019, they were eliminated by Wydad in the semi-finals while in 2020 and 2021, they were knocked out by the Egyptian giants, Al Ahly in the quarter-finals.

They were then shocked by Petro de Luanda in 2022 with the Angolan side beating them 3-2 in the last eight. And last season, they were humbled by Wydad knocking them out in the semi-final.
