Hollywoodbets Super League roars to life this weekend

The 2024 Hollywoodbets Super League season roars to life on Saturday, 2 March 2024 with so many expectations.

The Super League will have two new teams promoted from the Sasol League following the relegation of Ma-Indies Ladies and Coal Coal City Wizards.

The University of Fort Hare and Lindelani Ladies are the new two teams that secured promotion into the Super League having reached the 2023 Sasol League National Playoffs finals. This format was introduced by SAFA to have a broader spectrum for women’s football.

Interestingly, the SA women’s football league was ranked the 16th best league in the world by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics [IFFHS] earlier last month.

IFFHS ranked Hollywoodbet Super League above several notable leagues like NWSL [17th] in the USA, Colombia women’s football league [18th], Denmark women’s football league [21st], and Switzerland women’s football league [22nd].

SOME OF THE PLAYERS MOVEMENTS

The defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies bolstered their squad with the acquisition of two Banyana Banyana stars. Masandawana signed Cimone Sauls and Nthabiseng Majiya from JVW FC and Richmond United respectively.

Tuks Ladies made 10 signings ahead of the new season, as they aim to compete for the league title. The 10 are Mbali Ndlovu, Ntando Phahla, Jabulile Tshabangu, Inge Kambala, Mpho Motsatse, Tiisang Leseyane, Thato Mohlele, Tebogo Motale, Machaka Makua, Tarabhan Pemu.
