Cavin Johnson admits to being concerned about Chiefs’ shortfalls

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has admitted that the lack of scoring goals has become a concern for him and the club.

The Soweto giants played to a 0-0 draw against struggling Moroka Swallows at FNB on Saturday night in a league game.

It’s the third straight match that Chiefs failed to score. They have also scored 16 goals in the DStv Premiership this season, the least number of goals by any club in the top 8 currently.

Chiefs have also scored just eight goals in the 10 games that Johnson has been in charge since taking over from Molefi Ntseki.

KAIZER CHIEFS COACH CONCERNED ABOUT THE INABILITY TO SCORE GOALS

“It has always been a concern since I started. Whatever team I have coached before, there has always been that concern,” he said.

“Football is only nice when you see goals. All my life, I have said it, if you score two goals against me, I score three goals. If you score six, I score seven. So, that has always been something I work on continuously wherever I am.

“Just like you are worried, I am also worried. Yes, we are working on it, and hopefully, it will come right,” he added.

CAVIN JOHNSON PLAYS DOWN ANXIETY FACTOR ON HIS STRIKERS’

“It’s not about anxiety, it’s about the mentality. It’s a mentality thing in one moment, because when you don’t have all you guys writing and talking [on social media platforms] because that is the generation of athletes we are in.

“The generation of athletes is all about things that you guys like to do. It is a concern for me, it is a concern for the club, and it has always been my concern wherever I work. Like I said you score three goals I score four.”

Chiefs will host Golden Arrows in their next DStv Premiership match at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
