Spurs fight back to salvage a draw against Pirates
Cape Town Spurs had to fight back to salvage a 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday in the DStv Premiership at Orlando Stadium.
Academy graduate Relebohile Mofokeng opened the scoring for Pirates in the 12th minute before Gadiel Kamagi pulled one back in the 75th minute.
The last time the two sides met in November 2023, the Capetonians pulled a shocker against the Happy People. They won 2-0, their first victory of the season.

TSHEGOFATSO MABASA STARTS FOR PIRATES
Striker Tshegofatso Mabasa started his first match for Pirates since his return from Moroka Swallows loan. He replaced in-form striker Evidence Makgopa who didn’t make the matchday squad.
Other changes saw the duo of captain Innocent Maela and Nkosinathi Sibisi replace Olisa Ndah and Deon Hotto.
RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG SCORES HIS FIRST LEAGUE GOAL OF THE SEASON
The teenage sensation finally scored his first league goal of the season. The 19-year-old has been a vital cog for the Sea Robbers this campaign playing 22 matches in all competitions. The talented attacker had scored one goal and provided three assists.
GADIEL KAMAGI SCORES HIS FIRST SPURS GOAL, DENWIN FARMER MAKES HIS DEBUT
Defender Kamagi on loan from Tanzania side Singida opened his scoring account for Spurs through an equaliser. On the other hand, newly signed defender, Farmer, was handed his debut after signing with the club on Tuesday.
SPURS STRETCHES THEIR UNBEATEN RUN TO THREE MATCHES
Spurs have started the new year on a good note after struggling in the first half of the season. In three league matches, they have collected seven points out of nine. They have reduced the gap from 15th placed Richards Bay FC to two points after amassing 11 points. Their fight for survival is now promising to yield results more than it did in the first half of the season.
OTHER DSTV PREMIERSHIP RESULTS
Chippa United edged 10-man relegation-threatened Richards Bay FC 3-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Justice Shabalala, Craig Martin and Kayden Francis were on the scoresheet. Sekhukhune United made it three consecutive league victories as they defeated Royal AM with a narrow 1-0 scoreline at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
