AmaTuks coach addresses Thokozani Sekotlong’s future
AmaTuks head coach Tlisane Motaung has addressed the future of Thokozani Sekotlong who has been missing in action for the club.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is yet to kick the ball in the Motsepe Foundation Championship this season for AmaTuks.
Sekotlong joined Tuks in December 2023 on a free transfer after parting ways with Chippa United. Since his arrival at the club, he has featured in 14 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
The 32-year-old midfielder has struggled with injuries that have kept him out of the matchday squad for most of his time with the Pretoria-based side.
TLISANE MOTAUNG OPENS UP ON SEKOTLONG’S FUTURE
With Sekotlong struggling with injuries at AmaTuks, there are questions surrounding his future at the club and Motaung has now addressed the matter.
“Look, Thokozani Sekotlong has been injured for quite a long time now but he’s back at full training with the team,” Motaung told FARPost.
“We are looking to bring him back to the match day squad gradually because he’s been out for a long time. I mean he’s a very good player who can help us win matches.”
Asked if Sekotlong’s future is hanging in the balance, Motaung said the experienced midfielder is still in the club’s plans for the rest of the season.
“Sekotlong still has a contract with AmaTuks and to be honest, the idea of letting him go has never crossed our minds,” he added.
“He’s one of the senior players in the team and we all know the qualities he possesses. So I can safely he’s part of our plans.”
Meanwhile, AmaTuks are amongst the title contenders in the Motsepe Foundation and they are in the Last 16 of the 2024 Nedbank Cup.
