Broos names final Bafana squad for FIFA Series

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has named his final 23-member squad to face Algeria and Andorra in the FIFA Series international friendlies later this month.

The Belgian mentor had announced a 32-man preliminary squad for the international friendlies pilot project in Algeria last week.

The tournament will run from 18 to 26 March 2024.

This will be the first time that Broos reunites with the team since guiding Bafana to a third-place finish to win a bronze medal at the 2023 AFCON tournament held in Ivory Coast last month.

Broos’ troops beat DR Congo 6-5 on penalties in the AFCON third-place play-off to secure the bronze medal.

Bafana will play their game against Andorra at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba on Thursday, 21 March 2024.

They will then face the hosts, Algeria, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers on Tuesday, 26 March 2024.

South Africa will be hoping to continue where they left off from the AFCON tournament. Broos charges will return home on Wednesday, 27 March 2024.

On Monday, 11 March 2024, the 7-year-old mentor trimmed his preliminary squad to 23.
