Vilakazi drops bold statement about Hunt ahead of Nedbank Cup clash

Richards Bay FC head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has dropped a bold statement about SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt ahead of their meeting in the Nedbank Cup.

The Natal Rich Boyz will host Matsatsantsa on Saturday at the King Zwelithini Stadium in what will be the Last 16 stage of the competition. The match is scheduled for 3 pm.

This is set to be the third meeting between Hunt and Vilakazi this campaign. The Richards Bay mentor has defeated Hunt in all of them.

They first met when Vilakazi was still at Golden Arrows earlier this season. Abafana Bes’thende downed the Swanky Boys 3-1 in August.

The following month, ‘Kanu’ was appointed by Chippa United as Technical Director and was assisting Morgan Mammila in the dugout. The Chilli Boys beat SuperSport 1-0.

And their last encounter was in January after Vilakazi took over at Richards Bay as an interim coach. They humbled SuperSport 3-1 at King Zwelithini Stadium.

Vilakazi believes Hunt “is concerned” about facing him “again” in what will be their fourth clash this season.

VILAKAZI ON HUNT – ‘HE’LL BE VERY MUCH CONCERNED HE’S FACING ME AGAIN’

“I know it’s not gonna be an easy one considering the fact that obviously when they came here, we beat them 3-1,” said Vilakazi.

“And also when you look head to head between myself and the coach [Gavin Hunt], he’s very, very much unfortunate.

“That’s because in my last game before I resigned at Golden Arrows, I beat him 3-1, when I went to Chippa I beat him 1-0, and when I came to Richards Bay we beat him 3-1.

“So, obviously, he’ll be very much concerned that he’s facing me again which there’s a possibility of us winning this game.

“It’s not gonna be an easy one, we’ll have to dig deep as a team. But obviously, we’re doing that in the name of trying to make sure that we improve our game when it comes to the league games.”
