This will be the first time Yanga will play in the quarter-final of the Champions League, having been guided to the Last eight by the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Ángel Gamondi.

The Tanzanian side will be looking to work wonders and eliminate Sundowns who were last knocked out of the Champions League quarter-final in the 2021/22 season by the Angolan side Petro de Luanda.

In the previous campaign, the Brazilians were brushed aside by the Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in the semi-final.

The first leg ended 0-0 in Morocco before the North African side broke the hearts of the Tshwane giants in the return leg at Loftus Versfeld Stadium with the match ending with a 2-2 stalemate. Wydad went through to the final with a goal advantage.
