Goodman Mosele on his return to Bafana Bafana
On-loan Chippa United midfielder Goodman Mosele has opened up on his return to Bafana Bafana, after a three-year absence.
He was included in the preliminary squad for the AFCON tournament but couldn’t make the cut for the final 23.
Mosele made headlines in 2021 when he absconded from his national team call-up by Hugo Broos.
The Orlando Pirates star has since shown remorse for the incident and apologised to coach Broos. The 24-year-old has been one of the in-form players in the DStv Premiership in recent times.
He has so far collected four Man of the Match awards in the league from the 17 matches. The performance has not gone unnoticed as coach Broos included him in the 23-man squad for the FIFA series in Algeria.
GOODMAN MOSELE DELIGHTED WITH HIS NATIONAL TEAM RETURN
“To be honest I was surprised. But even Morgan [Mammila] has been telling me that I should keep working hard so maybe the coach will call me again,” Mosele told FARPost.
“I am happy about the call-up because I have been working hard. Everyone wants to be in the national team so I am happy and I am blessed actually. Now my performance must speak for itself.
“As long as I continue to work hard, my performances will speak for themselves. The coach is the one who makes the decision if I get to play or not,” he said.
CHIPPA UNITED ANCHORMAN FOCUSED ON CEMENTING HIS PLACE IN THE BAFANA BAFANA SET-UP
Mosele says he has put the 2021 incident in the past now and is more focused on reviving his international career.
“That matter is in the past because we had a conversation about it [with Hugo Broos]. It’s something that I have put behind.”
Bafana Bafana will play the first friendly match against Andorra on Thursday, 21 March 2024. They will then play against hosts Algeria on Tuesday, 26 March before returning home on the following day.
