Grant Margeman leaves door open for switch to big three

SuperSport United midfielder Grant Margeman has left the door open for a high-profile move to any of the big three teams in SA football.

Margeman has been a standout performer for SuperSport in the PSL since signing a permanent contract from Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the season.

The versatile midfielder has made 27 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing three assists. Margeman has formed a formidable combination in the middle of the park with the former Orlando Pirates midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has been rewarded for his good performances with a national team call-up by Hugo Broos.

The former Ajax Cape Town skipper is part of the 23-man Bafana Bafana squad for next week’s FIFA series international friendlies against Andorra and Algeria.

With Margeman establishing himself as a key player at SuperSport, the latter has stated that he is ready for the pressure that comes with playing for a big club.

GRANT MARGEMAN WILLING TO CHALLENGE HIMSELF AWAY FROM SUPERSPORT UNITED

The highly-rated midfielder has admitted that he’ll grab an opportunity to join Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates, or Sundowns if it presents itself.

“Well, If one of the bigger teams come knocking for my signature, I’ll obviously go and compete,” Margeman told FARPost. “I’m an ambitious player, and I like to challenge myself, so you can never say no to such a big opportunity.

Margeman also expressed the excitement of being back in the Bafana Bafana squad after missing the 2023 AFCON.

“It’s always good to be back in the Bafana Bafana squad; I’m looking forward to fighting and cementing my place.

“Missing out on the squad that played in AFCON was sad, but I now have the opportunity to showcase my talent at Bafana Bafana. I will grab the chance with both hands to repay the faith he [Hugo Broos] has shown in me.”
