Mdaka opens up on working with Letsholonyane at Amajita

Newly appointed SA U20 mentor Raymond Mdaka has opened up on working with Reneilwe Letsholonyane at Amajita as his assistant coach.

Amajita will commence with their programme for the year this month with a weeklong training camp under the leadership of coach Mdaka, building up to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in September 2024.

The camp will start on 21- 28 March 2024 at the SAFA Technical Centre in the south of Johannesburg.

Mdaka will also be working alongside Donald Mojaki as the first assistant, who is currently coaching Sol Plaatje University. Letsholonyane will be the second assistant, whereas Karabo Mogudi from the University of Johannesburg’s Varsity Cup will be the third assistant. These coaches will form part of the technical team under the guidance of SAFA technical director Walter Steenbok, as stated by SAFA.

RAYMOND MDAKA ON WORKING ALONGSIDE RENEILWE LETSHOLONYANE

The former Marumo Gallants coach has revealed that he is determined to work with Letsholonyane and other coaches to guide Amajita to the promised land.

“You see, football has its own dynamics. ‘Yeye’ has been a player before we even speak about him playing in the World Cup. He has played for our teams in the country; he was an intelligent and very good player, and he played in the World Cup,” Mdaka told FARPost.

“Other than that, he is a coach who just qualified for a CAF A license in Botswana not so long ago. So, it comes with a lot of practical insights into the game itself.

“Sometimes we look at coaching this way, let’s say players who have been in the game, adding more value at that particular experience which adds as more experience as a coach. It’s very important and makes me very positive.”

Mdaka went on to state that he is looking forward to building a great team with a comprehensive plan for the next two years.
