CAF alarmed by Hawks raid at SAFA House
CAF have expressed concern about South African football’s image following a Hawks raid at the SAFA House a week ago.
The Hawks raided the headquarters of the SAFA in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Friday, 8 March 2024. This was over the allegations of theft and fraud amounting to R1.3 million.
The Hawks enforced a search and seizure operation at the SAFA House for theft and fraud. It was alleged that the Association’s president, Danny Jordaan, committed these wrongdoings between 2014 and 2018.
It is alleged that the president used the SAFA funds for personal gain. According to reports, Jordaan hired a private security company for his protection and a public relations firm without proper authorisation from the SAFA board.
However, SAFA have denied any wrongdoing levelled against them by the Hawks.
