Ex-Chiefs attacker Chirambadare opens up on DStv Prem snub

Six years after leaving Kaizer Chiefs, attacker Edmore Chirambadare has shed light on the difficulties he’s encountered in finding a new club within the DStv Premiership.

Chirambadare arrived at Chiefs in the 2016/2017 season following strong showings in the Zimbabwe Premier League with Chicken Inn.

However, his stint with the Soweto giants was short-lived, lasting only until the 2018/2019 season, as he failed to live up to expectations. After his departure from Chiefs, Chirambadare joined Maccabi FC, and the winger has been competing in the second-tier league ever since.

During his stay at Chiefs, Chirambadare played a total number of 27 games across all competitions, scoring a single goal and providing one assist.

WHY EDMORE CHIRAMBADARE HAS BEEN STRUGGLING TO FIND A TEAM IN THE DSTV PREMIERSHIP

“To be honest with you, my brother, it is difficult because wherever I went, they would tell me about foreign quotas,” Chirambadare told FARPost.

“But you know that if anyone wants you, my brother, the foreign quota is something you can deal with. So, I think it isn’t my time to come back from the second division to the DStv Premiership.”

HOW CHIRAMBADARE HAS ADJUSTED TO LIFE IN THE LOWER DIVISION

The Magesi FC forward went on to state how he has adjusted to the standards of the lower division [Motsepe Foundation Championship].

“You see, in the NFD; I don’t want to lie, my brother, it’s very tough. It’s very competitive also, and I have been around. I have been playing in this league for about five to six years now,” he added.

“But I have adjusted, you know, as a player, you can’t be performing throughout. Maybe this season you can perform and the next season you become moderate because you may change a team or they change players. So, a lot of things can affect your game in the NFD.”
