The PSL has confirmed the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals draw following the conclusion of entertaining Round 16 matches on Sunday, 17 March 2024.
The draw was conducted on Monday, 18 March, and was televised live on SuperSport channel 202.
With the Nedbank Cup known as the cup of dreams, we witnessed another upset when Motsepe Foundation Championship side AmaTuks defeated the Soweto giants Moroka Swallows 2-1 in the first game of the tournament’s Last 16 to book a quarterfinal spot at TUT Stadium last Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the defending champions Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are still favourites to win the competition after defeating Hungry Lions and Maritzburg United respectively.
The Buccaneers qualified for the quarterfinals after thrashing Hungry Lions with a 4-0 scoreline at Orlando Stadium, while Bafana Ba Style secured a 2-0 win over the Team of Choice at home.
On the other hand, TS Galaxy progressed to the quarterfinals after claiming a 3-0 win over ABC Motsepe League side D’General away from home.
Steve Barker’s side, Stellenbosch FC, were the biggest winners of the Last 16, hammering Milford FC 6-1 last Friday at Princess Magogo Stadium, showing Kaizer Chiefs how is done after they were eliminated by Milford in the Round of 32.
The last eight teams are; AmaTuks, AmaZulu FC, Stellenbosch FC, SuperSport United, Chippa United, Orlando Pirates, TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns.
THE DRAW PROCEDURE
All club names were placed in one pot, with no seeding.
In each sequence, the first ball to be drawn was considered as the home club and the second ball drawn was deemed as the away club.
This process was repeated until all fixtures were finalised.
