Broos gives feedback on meeting with PSL chairman Dr Khoza

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has given feedback on his meeting with the PSL chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza.

The 71-year-old coach met Khoza at the SAFA NEC meeting that took place on Saturday in Sandton. SAFA president Danny Jordan and Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis were also present.

Among the subjects the Belgian wanted to discuss with Khoza was for the PSL to ensure the clubs release players for tournaments like the CHAN and COSAFA Cup where they can be tested before they are called into the senior team.

During the meeting, Khoza was handed the AFCON medals by both Broos and Ellis.

The Bafana coach says Khoza stated they would need all 16 representatives of the top-flight teams for the meeting to be successful.

And a new date has been set as the Bafana mentor will meet all the teams and the PSL chairman at the end of April.

WHAT KHOZA SAID TO BROOS DURING THE MEETING LAST WEEK

“I had a meeting with Mr. Khoza but I understand what he said in that meeting so it was not a long meeting,” Broos told the media on Tuesday.

“He said, ‘Look I’m just representing the 16 professional teams and I don’t want to have the discussion of this meeting only between me and you. I think it’s much better that other people are there when we meet each other. I can’t, on my own, take decisions for them or speak for them’.

“So, we postponed the meeting, we will have the meeting when I am back in South Africa.

“So, it will be at the end of April, there’s nothing more that happened more than that. I could really understand his feelings about that.

“We will have the meeting at the end of April, no problem about that.”

Bafana are currently in Algeria for their FIFA Series international friendlies pilot project.

They will take on Andorra at the 19 May 1956 stadium on Thursday, 21 March at 11 pm [SA time] before they play their second match against Algeria on Tuesday, 26 March at the Stade Nelson Mandela at the same kickoff time.
