The only reason Sundowns loanee Sibanyoni will sign permanent contract with AmaTuks

Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Thabang Sibanyoni has disclosed the only reason that will make him sign a permanent contract with AmaTuks.

Sibanyoni joined the University of Pretoria at the start of the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship season on a season-long loan from Sundowns.

Before joining Tuks, the forward had an unsuccessful loan spell in the DStv Premiership with SuperSport United due to injuries.

Sibanyoni played 14 matches in all competitions for SuperSport United and scored only one goal last season.

The 28-year-old attacker has seemingly overcome his struggles with injuries, and he’s back to scoring goals. In the current campaign, Sibanyoni has found the back of the net seven times across all competitions for AmaTuks.

Sibanyoni was promoted to the Sundowns’ first team in 2019 from the club’s reserve side. He’s yet to make an appearance for Masandawana after being sent out on loan five times.

WHAT WILL MAKE THABANG SIBANYONI TO SIGN PERMANENT DEAL WITH TUKS

With the goal-poacher’s future uncertain with the Brazilians, he has revealed the only reason that will make him leave Sundowns and sign a permanent deal with Tuks.

“At the moment, I don’t know what’s happening [with my future], but all I know is that if Tuks win the league, I’m willing to stay for a permanent deal,” Sibanyoni told FARPost.

“It’s every player’s dream to play in the DStv Premiership because it’s the highest level in South Africa. I also want to play amongst the top players in the league and prove what I’m capable of. For now, I can’t say much because I haven’t heard from my agent or Sundowns.”

Meanwhile, Tuks are pushing for automatic promotion to the Premiership. They are sitting second on the log in the NFD with 38 points in 21 games. The Tlisane Motaung-coached team is one point away from log leaders Magesi FC, who are on 39 points.

AmaTuks are also in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Nedbank Cup, and they’ll face their Tshwane rivals Sundowns.
