Top three midfielders that have impressed Teko Modise this season

SA football legend Teko Modise has revealed his choices for the top three most impressive midfielders thus far in the 2023/24 PSL season.

Modise was one of the best midfielders during his playing days, bossing the midfield at both club level and in the Bafana Bafana colours.

He played for four teams in the DStv Premiership namely; SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City FC.

The seasons he probably played his best football were in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 campaigns when he won the PSL Footballer of the Season during his time at Pirates.

Mokoena is the reigning Footballer of the Season after he impressed last season. In the current campaign, he has played 29 matches in all competitions for Masandawana. He has scored four goals and provided three assists.

Maswanganyi has established himself in the Soweto giants set-up through his consistent performances. This has also helped him to receive his first call-up to Bafana Bafana. ‘Tito’ has made 29 appearances in all competitions, scored five goals and provided seven assists.

Margeman has been consistent for Matsatsantsa under coach Gavin Hunt. In the current campaign, he has scored one goal and provided three assists in 28 matches in all competitions.

“We all know how exceptional Teboho Mokoena has been for Mamelodi Sundowns. He’s been consistent in all his performances bossing the midfield,” Modise told FARPost.

“I also think Patrick Maswanganyi has been impressive for Orlando Pirates since his move from SuperSport United. He’s starting to show glimpses of becoming one of the best footballers in the PSL.

“The other midfielder should be Grant Margeman. He’s been playing great, with an understanding of how coach Gavin Hunt wants him to play. Also, his talent and work rate as a player who has been promising, bubbling under for many seasons.
