How Orbit College is keeping afloat in Motsepe Foundation Championship

With other clubs struggling to keep up with the demands of playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and experiencing financial problems, Orbit College assistant coach Kabelo Machete has revealed how the team has managed to stay afloat in the SA football second tier.

Orbit College, who started the season like a house on fire, currently sit third on the table with 37 points, just two points behind log leaders Magesi FC. The North West side has played 21 games so far.

The club will be hoping to reclaim their top spot when they return to action after the FIFA international break.

In an interview with FARPost, coach Machete stated how the club planned to keep up with their finances and other challenges that come with playing in the National First Division.

WHAT ORBIT COLLEGE DID TO KEEP AFLOAT

Machete further divulged that they take everything as a learning as they don’t want to put so much pressure on themselves, and how they planned things around matters of finances.

“Look when it comes to issues of finances, we planned everything to be within the budget of the grant, we did not go out to sign expensive players,” Machete told this publication.

“What we did was to keep all the players from ABC Motsepe League, so in a nutshell we don’t have problems financially.”

“Overall, the team is finding it well so far and enjoying every minute of this learning curve of being in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.”

THE SECRET BEHIND ORBIT COLLEGE’S FINE FORM IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE SEASON

The coach went on to reveal the secret behind their impressive form in the first round of the campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

“The main reason we started like we did was that after the ABC Motsepe playoffs in KwaZulu-Natal, we only had one or two weeks before pre-season,” he added.

“So, we picked early and it was also a blessing in disguise to pick early and collect as many points as possible as the second round of our league is very tough.”
