How Bongokuhle Hlongwane has improved his game
Minnesota United and Bafana Bafana attacker Bongokuhle Hlongwane has explained what he has done to improve his game to keep scoring goals in the new MLS season.
The ex-Maritzburg United man has scored two goals in five matches in the 2023/24 Major League Soccer [MLS] campaign so far. In those five matches, Hlongwane also contributed two assists.
As things stand, Minnesota are placed fourth in the Western Conference table with 10 points from five outings. They have managed to win three games, draw one and lose one in the process.
THE SECRET BEHIND BONGOKUHLE HLONGWANE’S GOAL-SCORING IMPROVEMENT
In a recent interview with FARPost, the prolific attacker revealed his strategies for honing his finishing skills and his dedication to staying at the peak of his game.
“I would say it’s because I have sat down and watched some of my games, whereby I have been playing well but not scoring or converting my chances,” said Hlongwane.
“You know, I have been getting lots of chances and I couldn’t bury them. So, I sat down and watched how I could solve the problem. I would watch my previous games with other people to give me their views. Like last season, I worked so much on my finishing and composure. So, I think that has helped me a lot to improve my game.”
BONGOKUHLE HLONGWANE’S OPTIMISM FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON
Hlongwane went on to speak of his optimism for the rest of the season.
“My target, I would say, is to continue where I have left off. To keep on scoring goals and help the team to do well moving forward, all those things,” he added.
Minnesota’s next league assignment will be against Houston Dynamo at home on Sunday, 14 April 2024. The kick-off is set for 2:30am [South African time].
