PSL coach cries foul over ball boys behaviour

Chippa United co-coach Thabo September has expressed his displeasure with the conduct of ball boys in their recent DStv Premiership match.

The Chilli Boys lost 1-0 against Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo on Saturday afternoon. This result sees Chippa third from bottom on the log with nine matches to play.

September was pleased with his players’ fighting but called on the media and other stakeholders to intervene in match officiating and ball boys’ behaviour.

The coach was of the view that the ball boys were playing tricks after the home side scored an early goal.

“The refereeing and the ball boys, you guys as media and everyone, you guys need to get involved to help the football in the country,” he said.

“I think it’s just football. Sometimes you just accept things that you can’t control, and today was just one of those days.”

In terms of their league position, September remains optimistic that positive results will start coming.

“We are doing well. This is our second loss in five games in the league. So we collected five points it’s going to pick up. In the next match, we need to come in and just win all the games,” he added.

“It’s a good challenge. We are taking it one day as it comes because we are new in this space. Coach [Kwanele Kopo] has been there for a long time, but I am new. So, there are things that I am learning. It’s a status of over R 75 million, so it’s a huge responsibility that we don’t have to learn too much, but we have to act, you know.

“The support that we get from the management and the chairman and the players has been good. So we want to do well in the next remaining games,” added the former SuperSport United captain.
