Gallants’ relegation battle worsen while Magesi claims vital win

Marumo Gallants’ relegation battles have worsened after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Casric Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Tuesday at Isak Steyl Stadium.

Gallants are on a four-match winless run since they last won a league match against Venda FC on the 14th of February 2024.

The loss against Casric Stars saw the Limpopo-based side move to 15th place on the Motsepe Foundation Championship table.

Gallants collected 20 points in 22 matches and they are level on points with Platinum City Rovers who are sitting in the basement of the log.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa is in their first season in the second tier after they were relegated from the DStv Premiership last season.

Elsewhere, Magesi FC boosted their push for automatic promotion to the Premiership with a 3-1 victory over Pretoria Callies. Magesi remains unbeaten in the NFD since the start of 2024 after claiming five successive wins.

The Clinton Larsen-coached outfit is sitting top of the log standings with 42 points in 22 matches played. They are one point adrift of second-placed AmaTuks.
