Swallows talisman suspended for Pirates clash

Moroka Swallows will be without their combative man when they take on Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership outing on Wednesday evening.

The two will be meeting in the Original Soweto derby for the second time this season after the Buccaneers grabbed the bragging rights in a 2-0 win in the first round.

Pirates will aim to make a double over the Dube Birds who are fighting to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

In the past weekend, Swallows downed Cape Town Spurs 1-0 on the road. The victory elevated them to the 13th position, one point above Chippa United.

Meanwhile, the Sea Robbers come from shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sekhukhune United. They now sit fourth on the log standings with 33 after 21 games.

Swallows will have to make do without one of their influential players, Gabadinho Mhango who’s suspended for the clash.

The Malawian striker won’t have an opportunity to haunt his former side after accumulating four yellow cards in the previous matches.

He was last cautioned in the Swallows’ previous match against the Urban Warriors where he also scored to help his side claim maximum points away from home.

Since signing for the Soweto-based side at the beginning of the season, the 31-year-old has made 20 appearances across all competitions.

And he has found the back of the net on four occasions in the process, netting three goals in the league and one in the Carling Knockout up.

The match between Pirates and Swallows takes place on Wednesday, 3 March at Dobsonville Stadium. The kick-off time is 19:30.
