Dzvukamanja offers thoughts on Billiat’s move to Zimbabwe

SuperSport United attacker Terrence Dzvukamanja has shared his thoughts on the recent transfer of fellow countryman Khama Billiat to Zimbabwe’s domestic top-flight league.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker joined Yadah FC in Zimbabwe’s Castle Premier Soccer League after being a free agent for more than six months.

Billiat snubbed a contract renewal at Chiefs ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season. The attacker found it difficult to find a new club after leaving Amakhosi and eventually returned to his home country.

His return to Zim brought an end to a successful career in South Africa that spanned over 13 years. The talented midfielder played for Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Chiefs during his time in the PSL.

Billiat made over 300 appearances during his spell in the PSL, scoring 95 goals while providing 96 assists. He won several titles with Sundowns, including the 2016 CAF Champions League, and received individual accolades.

DZVUKAMANJA RECKONS BILLIAT WILL BRING INTEREST TO THE ZIMBABWEAN LEAGUE

While his switch to Yadah FC came as a big surprise, his compatriot Terrence Dzvukamanja has applauded the move. Dzvukamanja and Billiat played together in the Warriors national team.

“I respect the decision he made to go back to the Premier League in Zim,” Dzvukamanja said in an interview with FARPost.

“We all know that Khama Billiat is a very big brand in Africa and moving back home has brought a lot of interest into the league.

“So I can say that Khama going back to Zim is a good thing, and it will pick up our league. Now lot of people are following the league because of him.

“Young players will learn a lot from his talent and the experience that he accumulated while playing in South Africa. So I’m very happy with this move because it helps the league and youngsters.”
