Facts about Keletso Makgalwa’s future at Upington City
Footballerz Sports Marketing director Ntobatsi Masegela has provided facts about the future of his client Keletso Makgalwa at Upington City.
Makgalwa has been one of the outstanding performers in the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
The exciting attacking midfielder has scored eight goals in 14 matches for the Northern Cape-based side. Makgalwa joined Upington City in October 2023 on a free transfer after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
His exit from Sundowns came after Makgalwa struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at the club. Makgalwa was sent out on loan to teams such as Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows, TS Galaxy, and All Stars during his time at Masandawana.
With Makgalwa attracting interest from several DStv Premiership teams, his agent has revealed that the winger’s contract is coming to an end at Upington City in June.
DID KELETSO MAKGALWA SIGN FOR KAIZER CHIEFS?
Masegela further insisted that Makgalwa hasn’t signed a pre-contract with anyone after reports claimed that the 27-year-old signed with Kaizer Chiefs.
“I think we have to always respect Upington City at all times because they are the employers of Keletso Makgalwa,” Masegela told FARPost.
“We thank the club for giving him a chance but his contract is coming to an end in June and we still need to have conversations about his future. I’ve also said this before Makgalwa is an ambitious footballer.
“So we are looking at all the best possible options to get a solution that is in the best interest of the player. Whatever we decide on come the end of the season has been beneficial for Makgalwa.
Asked if Makgalwa has signed a pre-contract with Chiefs, Masegela said, “We never spoke to Kaizer Chiefs about Keletso Makgalwa, and he didn’t sign any contract with them.
“I can confirm that all reports about Keletso joining Chiefs are false and they came as a surprise to us as the player’s representatives and the club.”
