‘That’s what I love about Gavin Hunt’: Terrence Dzvukamanja

SuperSport United attacker Terrence Dzvukamanja has opened up on his relationship with the club’s head coach Gavin Hunt and revealed what he loves about the tactician.

Dzvukamanja reunited with Gavin Hunt after leaving Orlando Pirates to join SuperSport United ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

The 29-year-old striker ended his three-season spell with the Buccaneers having joined them in 2020 from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.

In his time at Pirates, Dzvukamanja featured in 76 matches across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists.

Dzvukamanja has had a slow start to life at SuperSport United after scoring five goals in 28 matches in all competitions.

WHAT DOES DZVUKAMANJA LOVE ABOUT GAVIN HUNT?

Despite his struggle to find the back of the net on a regular basis, the left-footed forward has praised Hunt and says he doesn’t want footballers who just play the game for fun.

Hunt and Dzvukamanja worked together at Wits before the club sold it’s top-flight status to Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC [TTM].

“Gavin Hunt is very good coach who knows me very well because he’s the one who brought to South Africa from Zimbabwe,” Dzvukamanja told FARPost.

“What I like about the coach is that he pushes us hard to always improve so that we can help the team. He loves players who are always willing to work hard.

“He doesn’t want players who just play for fun, he wants players who are always playing to win.”

The Zimbabwean international further reflected on his time so far in the colours of Matsatsantsa. “Everything is well here at SuperSport, I come from a team that play a different style.

“I got injured and you know how injuries can be a setback but I’m happy that I’m back playing for the team even though I’m not 100%.” he added.
