Prince Nxumalo on topping Motsepe Foundation goalscoring charts

Motsepe Foundation Championship top goalscorer Prince Nxumalo has revealed what has contributed to his form this season.

The JDR Stars striker currently leads the goalscoring pack with 14 goals from 21 matches.

He joined JDR after an unfruitful stint at DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United. The last time Nxumalo reached double figures was at Ajax Cape Town [now Cape Town Spurs].

With seven matches remaining before the end of the season, Nxumalo also reveals his target.

“For me, there is no specific number but my wish is to score in all the remaining games and help the team,” he told FARPost.

“So honestly if I score in all these games I would be satisfied. It pleases me that I am not just scoring but the team is doing well as well.”

PRINCE NXUMALO REGAIN HIS FORM AS JDR TARGETS PROMOTION TO DSTV PREMIERSHIP

JDR are currently on 34 points, four below a promotion playoff spot. They also trail log leaders Magesi by 11 points.

“When I was still at Ajax I was their number one striker of which I am here as well. The environment here is good. We get along as players and help each other,” continued Nxumalo.

“We are positive. There is still a huge possibility [for promotion],” he said.

“We are still going to play against the teams in the top four. Getting back to the PSL [DStv Premiership] with JDR is something I am looking forward to. Even if it means we go through the playoffs, even to finish at number one.”

Nxumalo has also had stints at Baroka, Golden Arrows, Ubuntu Cape Town and SuperSport United. He netted 13 goals during the 2015/16 while at Ajax in the Premier division.
